How To Clear Your Browser Cache and Single-Site Cookies

When the technical side of e-learning just isn't working right, it might be time for a little high-tech housecleaning.Clearing out your browser’s entire cache is the quickest way to ensure your device has the latest course content and isn’t accessing outdated or invalid files. Alternatively, you can delete the cookies for a single site, focusing on the domain that's misbehaving while leaving the rest of your browser history intact. 

If all that sounds daunting, don’t worry. We’ve got detailed instructions below on how to clear single-site cookies or the entire cache for each major browser. Keep in mind that these steps may change as new browser versions are released. Check the linked sites for the latest information.

Delete Cookies

Deleting cookies on a single site may be enough to solve your problem. If you’re concerned about losing your site settings or browser history, try this first.

Google Chrome

Select the (Customize and control Google Chrome) icon in the upper-right corner. Click Settings. On the tab that opens, select Privacy and Security > Site Settings. Then scroll down and select Third Party Cookies. Choose See all site data and information. Enter a value in the search field (like articulate), then press Delete displayed data. Apple Safari

Desktop

Select Safari > Settings. On the Privacy tab, click Manage Website Data. Select or search for the site and click Remove. Click Done to return to the menu. If you have other devices connected to your iCloud account, this will also clear the history for those devices. Click here for Apple’s official instructions.

Mobile

To clear your history and cookies, open the Settings app and select Safari > Advanced > Website Data. Enter a value and press Search. Click Edit in the bottom-right corner and select the entry you'd like to delete. Press Edit again to exit. You can find additional options and settings here.

Mozilla Firefox

Select the application menu in the upper right corner and select History > Manage History. Find the site in your history list (or enter a value in the search field), then right-click and select Forget this site. Click Forget in the pop-up to confirm the action. This deletes both the browser data and cookies for the selected site. For additional options and settings, see Mozilla support.

Microsoft Edge

Select the Settings and more icon in the upper right and select Settings. Click Cookies and site permissions. Under Cookies and data stored, select Manage and delete cookies and site data. Then select See all cookies and site data. Enter a value in the search field and select the down arrow to the right of the site whose cookies you want to delete, then click the delete icon. Delete Browser Cache

Deleting your browser cache is the most comprehensive way to clear out any saved data that may be interfering with your online training. 

Google Chrome

Desktop

Select the (Customize and control Google Chrome) icon in the upper-right corner and select Delete browsing data. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time. Make sure the Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files are selected, then click Delete data. For more information, check the Google support site.

Mobile

Open the Chrome app and select the More icon. Select History and then Delete Browsing Data. Select the time range and categories you’d like to clear and select Delete browsing data. For more information, check the Google support site.

Apple Safari

Desktop

Select Safari > Clear History. Select how far back you want to clear your history and click Clear History. If you have other devices connected to your iCloud account, this will also clear the history for those devices. Click here for Apple’s official instructions.

Mobile

To clear your history and cookies, open the Settings app and select Safari > Clear History and Website Data. You can find additional options and settings here.

Mozilla Firefox

Select History > Clear Recent History. Select the time period you want to clear the cache for (select Everything if you want to completely clear the cache) and click Clear. For additional options and settings, see Mozilla support.

Microsoft Edge

Select History > Manage History and click the delete icon in the upper right. On the Delete browsing data screen, select the time range and type of data you’d like to clear and click Clear Now.
