If Storyline 3 is malfunctioning, first make sure your project files are located on your local hard drive (typically your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior due to latency.
If it's still performing erratically, follow the steps below for your version of Microsoft Windows:
Windows 11
You'll need administrative privileges and an active internet connection to install software properly. You may need to ask your IT staff for help with these steps.
- Temporarily turn off User Account Control (UAC) and reboot your computer.
- Right-click the Start button, then select Apps and Features.
- Scroll to Articulate Storyline 3 from your list of apps, click the three vertical dots beside it, and select Uninstall.
- Reboot your computer.
- Download and extract this zip file on your computer.
- Right-click the sl3Cleanup.bat file and select Run as administrator. (This deletes the Storyline registry keys and prepares your computer for a clean re-installation. It should only take a few seconds.)
- Right-click the Storyline installation file and select Run as administrator to reinstall it. (Download the latest version here.)
If you're still experiencing unexpected behavior after performing the steps above, make sure Microsoft .NET Framework is enabled. Here's how:
- Type Turn Windows features on or off in the search field on your taskbar. (If the search field isn't visible, right-click the Start button and choose Search.)
- Click Turn Windows features on or off in the search results.
- Mark the box for .NET Framework 4.8 Advanced Services if it's not already selected and click OK.
