HTML5/Flash	Learners will see HTML5 output if they're using a supported HTML5 browser. If not, they'll see Flash output.
Flash/HTML5	Learners will see Flash output if they’re using a Flash-enabled browser. If not, they’ll see HTML5 output.
Flash Only	Learners will always see Flash output. If they're not using a Flash-enabled browser, they won't be able to view your course.
Articulate Mobile Player	Learners with iPads and Android devices will see Articulate Mobile Player output. All other learners will see HTML5 or Flash output, depending on which of the options above you select.

Can learners switch between formats/devices without losing progress or results?

If you publish for HTML5 and Flash, then yes, learners can switch between devices, browsers, and formats without losing their progress or results.

If you include Articulate Mobile Player output, learners can switch between devices, browsers, and formats only if you publish for xAPI. The Articulate Mobile Player doesn't support AICC or SCORM.

We recommend choosing the HTML5/Flash format when you publish to cover the widest audience, provide the best experience, and support all LMS specs. When you host content in an LMS, you don't need to include Articulate Mobile Player output unless your course includes FLV videos with alpha-channel transparency.
