Storyline and Studio: How to Create Certificates by Customizing the Report.html File
Article Last Updated
This article applies to:
Articulate apps don't currently support certificates of completion. We generally see this as a function of learning management systems (LMSs). However, if you're not using an LMS, you may be able to modify the report.html
file in your published output to make it look like a certificate.
Modifying the Report.html File
The report.html
file is used for the print-results feature in Storyline and Quizmaker. You can modify the report.html
file in your published output to look the way you want. You can even make it resemble a certificate.
You'll need HTML coding skills to use this technique. Also, be aware that we don't provide support for modifying published output in this manner. If you need help, we recommend posting in the forums to see how others have incorporated certificates into their courses.
The following video demonstration uses Quizmaker, but the same method also works for Storyline. After publishing your Storyline project, find the report.html
file in the story_content
folder of your published output.
Sample files like those in the screencast above can be downloaded here:
- Download and extract this file for Quizmaker '09.
- Download and extract this file for all other versions of Quizmaker and Storyline. (After copying the modified
report.html
file to your published output, open it in a text editor, such as Notepad++, and change the course title on line 7.)
