How to Solve an Error Installing, Updating, or Uninstalling Articulate 360 Apps

If you see an error message when installing, updating, or uninstalling these apps, review the reasons and solutions below.

You can’t update 32-bit and 64-bit Storyline 360 at the same time.

We’ve found that trying to update 32-bit and 64-bit Storyline 360 simultaneously on a Mac with Parallels could result in the error message FFFFFFFF. (This message displays when you click the question mark icon next to the “Unable to install Storyline 360" error.) Try updating each version one at a time.

You're experiencing a temporary computer glitch.

The first and quickest solution that often fixes installation issues is to reboot your computer, then try installing, updating, or uninstalling your Articulate software again.

You don't have administrative privileges to install software on your computer.

If you don't have the proper security permissions to install software, ask your IT staff for assistance.

Microsoft Windows is out of date.

Run Windows Update and install all important updates.

Visual C++ runtime for Visual Studio 2019 isn't installed or is corrupted.

We've found that Visual C++ runtime for Visual Studio 2019 sometimes installs incorrectly. The good news is it's easy to fix. Just download and install vc_redist.x64.exe and vc_redist.x86.exe.

You can't connect to Articulate 360 to download software.

Make sure you have an active internet connection when installing and updating software.

Also, check to see if Articulate 360 is experiencing an outage. Click the Subscribe button in the upper right corner of the status page if you'd like to receive notifications of status changes.

The port required for Articulate 360 is restricted by your network or a firewall is blocking access to Articulate 360.

Ask your network administrator to allow communication over port 443 and add these domains to your allowlist.

There's an issue with User Account Control (UAC) in your Windows computer or virtual machine that's preventing software installation.

This is a rare issue, but if the solutions above haven't resolved the error, try this:

  1. Open the Windows sound manager. One way to do this is to right-click the speaker icon in your computer's system tray (by the clock) and select Sounds.
  2. Scroll to Windows User Account Control in the Program Events list.
  3. Use the Sounds drop-down list at the bottom of the window to select None, then click OK to close the sound manager.
  4. Reboot your computer and try to install, update, or uninstall your software again.
